Kilambakkam Bus Terminus, officially known as Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (Source), is an ambitious construction project located in Kilambakkam, Urapakkam, on the outskirts of Chennai, India. This state-of-the-art bus terminus is being developed to alleviate congestion at the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus in Koyambedu while catering to the increasing demand for bus services to the southern districts of Tamil Nadu. Facilities and Features
The Kilambakkam Bus Terminus boasts an impressive array of facilities to cater to the needs of both passengers and drivers. With a total built-up area of 640,000 square feet, the terminus is designed to accommodate 215 bus bays. Out of these, 130 bays are dedicated to government buses, while 85 bays cater to omni buses. Additionally, the terminus includes parking spaces for 300 spare buses, 275 cars, and 3,582 two-wheelers.
The public lobby, spanning 2,014 square meters, offers various amenities, such as a “Mother’s room,” medical center, clinic, store rooms, cloakroom, and an ATM. Separate dormitories are available for men, women, and drivers, providing accommodations for up to 100 males, 40 females, and 340’s drivers respectively. The terminus also features multiple toilet blocks, a security/CCTV room, electrical rooms, control rooms, ticket counters, transport offices, time offices, restaurants, retail stores, a fire service station, electrical substation, and a sewage treatment plant.

Bus Bays and Connectivity
The Kilambakkam Bus Terminus is equipped with 14 platforms divided among 8 bus fingers. Spanning across 14 acres, the mofussil bus bays cater to 130 government buses and 85 omni buses, facilitating seamless connectivity to cities and towns in the southern parts of Tamil Nadu. Adjacent to the GST Road, a 7.4-acre space has been allocated for an MTC bus terminus, featuring a long platform measuring 1,100 meters and four meters wide, covered with an eight-meter-wide roofing. Additionally, a two-acre area has been designated for a bus depot and workshop.
